What clients say about working with us…
We were getting ready for our first move after the kids left home–sitting on a vast midden of stuff from our college years, stuff from jobs long ended, stuff from 25 years of raising children (American Girl dolls in the attic, anyone?), and even stuff from when our parents had made their own empty-nest move.
Jenny, Angie, and Lena not only helped us sort through it all, they made the process purposeful, even joyful. And they brought snacks! Jenny listened to countless stories about where I’d worn what dress or who’d given me what t-shirt and also managed to find dental floss squirreled away in every corner of our home. Following the KonMari method, she taught me that it’s not about getting rid of “stuff” but embracing what you have.
Through Welcome Home Projects’ gentle magic, “stuff” was transformed back into tools, books, clothes, pottery, crucial papers–useful and beautiful things whose place and purpose in our home were restored. In the process, yes, we did give away about 25 bags of clothes and 20 boxes of books and so much more. We recycled, gifted, and shredded. The Welcome Home team helped us find good places to take our donations and (maybe?) give our discards new life. It felt empowering to let things go.
And this wasn’t just a one-time experience; it taught me useful skills that I am now able to share with family and friends to help make their lives, too, feel more manageable, useful, and beautiful. I’ll be forever grateful for the support Welcome Home Projects gave us at this inflection point in our lives.
